AIA Men's Health Half Marathon 2016

This was the first time taking part in a half marathon race.

Just over a week ago during practise, I ran my first 21km. Was slow and almost 3 hours with short breaks in between. After that, I knew I was set and ready to complete my first half marathon but unsure of the pace.

The AIA Men's Health Night Run - Half Marathon was a night run in the town of Putrajaya. Putrajaya is notorious for the hot weather and even in the night when the day heat releases from the ground.

But this race, it rain throughout the evening and it was damp all around. Took me a while to drive to Putrajaya on a Saturday night jam. Tip: Give extra time to get there. There were lots of fun activities there too.

While walking from the carpark quite a distance away to the start line, we hear the gun go off for the half marathon race. We sprinted to the start line so as to get an official start timing and then ran.

Maintained a chit chat pace of 7 mins plus for the first 15km. After than, the next 5km was at a 6 mins plus pace and finishing off the last km in 5mins plus pace.

My first half marathon done with a time of 2 hours and 25mins. Certainly have more room to improve but now to recover and prepare for my very first half distance triathlon, the Challenge Iskandar Puteri coming up in 2 weeks!
